I once watched a UK version of wife swap that I thought was totally silly. One of the women was in her 30′s. She worked, had 3 kids and never deviated from her schedule. I would say she was a bit OTT. I cant remember what her husband did. Probably did what he was told like all trained husbands should (yeh joke). Anyway this woman cleaned her cooker oven every Friday night. I remember thinking ye fuckin wit noo. Clean the over, once a week on a Friday? Pulling out her oven racks and scrubbing them till they gleamed? Not my idea of a good time. Okay, given my non existant social life I maybe should have thought it was a good idea but no. So now I have a cooker that needs attention and 8 oven racks that have’t been cleaned in o I hate to think how long. In my defence well, there is no defence actually.
Okay this afternoon I have been playing with cleaning options. I will not scrub anything, sure that was part of my wedding vows. I refuse to get that involved. I dont use chemicals so oven cleaners are out. I dont go with the theory that the self clean cycle will work either & that stinks. The options are limited. I do remember last time I cleaned them I put them in the bath overnight with dishwater salt and in the morning they required rinsing. Think they maybe a bit beyond that. I did also try finding an oven cleaning company in my area but honestly the shame of letting anyone see how dirty my 3 oven are just isnt for me. So, will I ever manage to clean my ovens. I’m sure I will but I will be kicking and screaming until its done. And heaven help anyone around me if I break a finger nail. Honestly I never thought I would reach the stage in life where I would worry about the state of ovens. I’m off to see if I can locate the real Jacqui cos this one I’ve become is doing my nut in.
