History in the making

I had a conversation with a woman today who’s husband recently died.  They’d been married for 60 years.  I cannot imagine how that must feel.  She’s a lovely woman who’s just getting on with her life.  Like me she has 7 kids but her kids are dotted about the world so she really has been left to it.  I take my hat off to anyone who can stay with another human being for that amount of time.

We youngsters just don’t have the staying power.  I do have a friend who’s been married for over 35yrs but I think its more co-dependency than love.  Maybe the older generation just have more staying power.  I suppose it must be comforting to have the familiarity of shared memories.    I suppose its all good if your where you want to be.
